ICSI Treatment
ICSI Treatment
At Bloom IVF Centre, Mohali, we are dedicated to providing cutting-edge fertility treatments to help couples achieve their dream of parenthood. One of our specialized treatments is Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). This advanced laboratory technique significantly enhances the chances of successful fertilization, particularly for couples facing severe male infertility.
What is ICSI? Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is an advanced assisted reproductive technology (ART) used to overcome male infertility issues. The procedure involves directly injecting a single sperm into an egg to facilitate fertilization. This method is particularly effective for couples where traditional IVF may not yield successful fertilization due to sperm-related issues.
The Process
Ovarian Stimulation
The ICSI process begins with ovarian stimulation, where fertility medications are used to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. This increases the chances of successful fertilization.

Egg Retrieval
Once the eggs are mature, they are retrieved from the ovaries through a minor surgical procedure under ultrasound guidance.
Sperm Injection
Under a microscope, a single, healthy sperm is carefully selected and injected directly into the cytoplasm of each retrieved egg using a fine, hollow needle.
Fertilization and Embryo Culture
After the injection, the eggs are monitored for signs of fertilization. Successfully fertilized eggs are then cultured in the laboratory for several days to develop into embryos.
Embryo Transfer
The healthiest embryos are selected for transfer into the woman’s uterus. Any remaining high-quality embryos can be frozen for future use.

Pregnancy Test
Approximately two weeks after the embryo transfer, a pregnancy test is conducted to determine if the treatment was successful.
Advantages of ICSI
Overcomes Male Infertility: ICSI is highly effective for men with low sperm count, poor sperm motility, or abnormal sperm morphology.
High Fertilization Rates: By directly injecting sperm into the egg, ICSI significantly improves the chances of successful fertilization.
Solves Severe Cases: ICSI is beneficial for couples who have previously experienced failed fertilization in traditional IVF cycles.
Minimally Invasive: The procedure is relatively simple and minimally invasive for the female partner.
