IMSI Treatment
The Process
IMSI Treatment
At Bloom IVF Centre, Mohali, we are committed to providing advanced fertility treatments to help couples achieve their dream of parenthood.IMSI is a specialized form of Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) that enhances the selection process of sperm, significantly improving the chances of successful fertilization and pregnancy.
The IMSI Process
Sperm Collection and Preparation: The IMSI procedure begins with the collection of a semen sample from the male partner or a sperm donor. The sample is then processed to isolate the most motile and viable sperm.
High-Magnification Microscopy
Unlike traditional ICSI, which uses standard magnification, IMSI employs a high-powered microscope (up to 6000x magnification) to evaluate the sperm in intricate detail. This allows embryologists to detect and exclude sperm with morphological abnormalities that could impair fertilization or embryo development.
Sperm Selection
Under the high-magnification microscope, embryologists select the healthiest and best-structured sperm for injection. This meticulous selection process enhances the likelihood of selecting sperm with optimal DNA integrity and morphology.
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
Once the best sperm are selected, they are carefully injected into the eggs retrieved from the female partner. This precise injection technique facilitates fertilization by directly introducing the selected sperm into the egg.
Embryo Culture and Transfer
After fertilization, the resulting embryos are cultured in the laboratory for several days. The healthiest embryos are then selected for transfer into the woman’s uterus, with any remaining high-quality embryos potentially being frozen for future use.
Advantages of IMSI
Enhanced Sperm Selection: IMSI provides a higher level of detail in sperm selection, enabling the identification of sperm with the best morphology and DNA integrity.
Improved Fertilization Rates: By selecting the highest quality sperm, IMSI can significantly improve the chances of successful fertilization and healthy embryo development.
Increased Pregnancy Success: Couples with previous failed IVF/ICSI cycles or severe male infertility issues often benefit from the improved outcomes associated with IMSI.
Reduced Risk of Miscarriage: The use of morphologically selected sperm can lower the risk of genetic abnormalities in embryos, potentially reducing the incidence of miscarriages.
